As a mom of 8, I know how hard it can be to find time to spend in God’s word. Today I want to share 4 tips for prioritizing God’s word as a mom.

1. Get up early-
Now, I know this is not always possible. I have been a mom of almost 18 years and have had season fo newborns, toddlers and older kids. There will be times when one of the kids was up all niht, seasons of newborns nursing through the night, and toddlers waking up at the crack of dawn. In my own life I have found that the best time of day for me to read and study God’s word is early in the morning before anyone else is awake. A cup of hot coffee, a quiet house and a cozy spot on the couch are the best way I find to dig into and meditate on the Scriptures.
2. Read to the kids-
But what if you can’t get up early? I get it! I’ve totally been there!
Tip number 2 is to read the Bible with your kids. If a child is up early and you are still reading, have them sit next to you while you read out loud, or invite them to find their own Bible to look at while you read yours. Another option is to read to the kids while they are eating breakfast. Or, if you homeschool, spend 10 minutes reading a chapter of the Bible with them to start off your school day.
3. Listen-
Another way to be in the Bible everyday is to listen to it. Buy yourself a pair of earbuds (these are what I use and love) and download a free audio Bible app. One of my favorites is the ESV Bible. Or try the Holy Bible app. This one has a timer, which works great for listening while falling asleep.

With an audio Bible you can enjoy God’s word while cleaning up, exercising, washing the dishes or cooking dinner. I like to walk in the mornings and tend to use that time to listen to my Bible through my earbuds.
4. Keep it simple-
My last tip is to keep it simple. Spending time in God’s word doesn’t have to be complicated. Read one chapter each day. Find a good study Bible, mine is the John MacArthur Study Bible, and read the commentary. Start a journal and write down what you learned. You could do all 3 of these things on the same day, or you could do them on 3 consecutive days. Either way, the goal is to not overload yourself. Your time in God’s word should be refreshing, not stressful.

Whether you read in the morning or evening, with your kids or by yourself, I pray that your time with the Lord will be a blessing and bring you closer to Christ.
