Casseroles are always a winner in the easy, family-friendly meal category. This quick and easy dinner is packed with flavor, quick to put together and is sure to be a hit at your dinner table. With only a handful of ingredients, this dish is perfect for busy weeknights or meal prepping. It is also low-carb and full of protein, which makes it a great option for those on a keto or low-carb diet.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- 2 lbs. ground sausage – I used breakfast sausage, 1 lb. regular and 1 lb. spicy
- 4 lbs. broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- 1- 8oz. brick cream cheese – softened
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 cups shredded cheese – cheddar and colby jack are great choices
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste

How to Make This Quick and Easy Dinner
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Cook the sausage in a large skillet (I prefer to use cast iron) over medium heat until browned.
- Steam the broccoli until just tender. If using frozen broccoli, drain any excess water.
- Mix everything together in a large mixing bowl. Combine the cooked sausage, broccoli, cream cheese, 1 cup shredded cheese, garlic and onion powder, and salt and pepper and stir until it is all mixed well.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish (I used a 10×15 dish) and top with the remaining shredded cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve and enjoy!

This casserole is perfect on its own but also pairs well with a salad or a warm homemade dinner roll slathered in butter. You can customize it to your own liking by adding mushrooms or bell peppers, or swapping out the sausage for ground beef or shredded chicken.
