Have you ever felt like life is so busy that your time with God gets pushed to the side? You’re not alone. As women, we juggle so much—kids, work, marriage, home, and everything in between. But here’s the good news: you don’t need a perfectly quiet morning or hours of study to grow closer to God. He meets us right in the middle of our busy lives. So today, let’s talk about 6 simple and practical ways to draw near to Him—no matter how full your season is.

As a mom of 8, life can be full—overflowing, even—with responsibilities, kids, housework, and just the daily grind. I know all moms feel this way, and as Christian women, we long to draw near to God, but when life feels chaotic, it’s easy to feel disconnected. So today, I want to share with you some simple, realistic ways to grow closer to God—even in the busiest seasons of life.
Sometimes, we think that growing in our faith requires long, uninterrupted hours of study and prayer. But in some seasons of life, that might not be realistic. I’ve been there. Six of my eight children were born in 7 years and I understand what it means to be busy and exhausted. I know what it’s like to go to bed every morning exhausted and wake up every morning with your feet running. Some seasons are BUSY! And you know what? That’s okay. God isn’t waiting for us to have the perfect schedule before we come to Him.
Here are 6 simple ways you can grow closer to God, even with life is crazy.
1. Abide in Small Moments
Instead of feeling like you need an hour of quiet time, look for small moments of time to spend with Christ. Instead of reading a whole chapter of scripture, read one verse and really chew on it throughout the day. Leave your bible open on the counter so you can easily re-read that one verse while you are going about your day.
Talk to Him while you do the dishes. Pray while folding laundry. Meditate on Scripture as you rock your little one to sleep. “Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) God cares for us and wants a relationship with us. He wants us to cast our cares and worries and anxieties on Him. Tell him what you are thankful for, what your dreams and desires are. He wants our hearts. Express your trust and love for Him through out the day by spending time with Him in prayer.
2. Keep the Word Close
Keeping God’s Word in front of you makes a difference. Using sticky notes, or, if you are creative, make pretty scripture cards to place around your home—on the bathroom mirror, by the sink, or in the car. (Get a set of FREE printable scripture cards here!). Listen to the Bible while driving or doing chores. Even five minutes in the Word can realign your heart. I keep a sticky note of scripture on my kitchen window, above the sink. I read it often while washing the dishes or watching the kids play in the yard.

3. Pray Without Ceasing
Prayer doesn’t have to be formal. Whisper prayers throughout the day—when you feel overwhelmed, when you’re grateful, when you need wisdom. God delights in hearing from you, even in the small, unpolished moments. I often journal my prayers. This helps me to slow down and really think about what I am praying. I enjoy having a journal of prayers to look back on, it helps me to remember the faithfulness of God.
4. Worship in the Chaos
Praise has the power to shift our perspective. Put on some worship music while you cook, drive, or clean. Sing to the Lord, even if it’s off-key. Worship turns our hearts back to Him and reminds us of His presence in our day-to-day life. Playing worship music can lift the mood of the entire house. My kids love to sing along and often you’ll find us having a dance party in the living room. Some of our favorite artists to listen to include Sovereign Grace Music, Keith and Kristyn Getty, Shai Linne, CityAlight, Beautiful Eulogy, and Andrew Peterson.
5. Seek Fellowship
“And all who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were dividing them up with all, as anyone might have need. And daily devoting themselves with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart praising God and having favor with all people. And the Lord was adding to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:44-47)
You don’t have to walk this journey alone. Stay connected to other women of faith. Whether it’s a text to a friend, a phone call, or a quick prayer with your spouse, encouraging one another helps keep our eyes on Jesus. Find a solid, bible teaching, expository preaching church to attend and become a member of. Being part of the local body of Christ is a huge blessing.

6. Include Your Kids in Bible Reading
One of the sweetest ways to grow closer to God in a busy season is to include your kids in your Bible time. It doesn’t have to be complicated—read a short Bible story at breakfast, listen to Scripture together in the car, or memorize a simple verse as a family. Not only does this keep you in the Word, but it also plants seeds of faith in your children’s hearts. And remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect—wiggles, interruptions, and all, God is at work in these moments.
Our family enjoys reading the Bible together, one chapter at a time, and then discussing it. We also sing worship songs together, memorize scripture and study the catechisms. Proverbs 1:8 says, “Hear my son, your father’s discipline and do not abandon your mother’s instruction.” When you take the time to teach your children the truth of God’s word, it also helps you grow in your relationship with the Lord.

No matter how busy life gets, God is always near. He’s not asking for perfection—just your heart. Even in the smallest moments, you can draw closer to Him, and He will meet you there.
