Eggs are the perfect breakfast food. They are full of protein and fat and you can cook them so many different ways. We enjoy eggs almost every morning for breakfast and fried eggs with crunchy cheese is one of my favorite carnivore breakfast recipes.

What is the carnivore diet?
My husband and I have been following a mostly carnivore diet for 11 months now. The first 6 months we were both very strict, following the diet 100% even when we traveled to Mexico. After the first 6 months we started to introduce some foods back into our diet. The easiest way to describe the carnivore diet is to ask yourself one question, “Does this food come from an animal?” If it comes from an animal, or is produced by an animal, then you can enjoy it on the carnivore diet.
The only exception to this is honey. There is a debate in the carnivore community as to whether honey fits into these guidelines. Some say yes and others say no. I think it depends on what you goals are for following a carnivore diet and how well your body does when you eat honey.
Eggs- The perfect carnivore breakfast
Eggs fit into the carnivore diet perfectly. They come from a chicken (or duck, quail or other fowl) and one of nature’s most nutrient-dense, protein packed foods. A single egg contains all nine essential amino acids which makes it a complete protein source. They are rich in vitamins like B12, antioxidants, and healthy fats. Adding eggs into your diet will help support muscle growth, brain function, brain development and memory. The omega-3s contribute to heart health and the antioxidants help protect eye health. As you can see, they are a powerhouse for healthy eating!

How to Make Fried Eggs with Crunch Cheese
Start with a non-stick skillet. I prefer to use cast iron (here’s a link to one of my favorite pans) – I find it easy to clean, scratch resistant and simple to season.
Preheat the skillet over medium heat. Once the skillet is hot, add a teaspoon or 2 of butter and let it melt.
Once the butter is melted, crack an egg into the butter. Break the yolk and let the egg cook for about 1 minute.

Sprinkle the top of the eggs with shredded cheese. I like to use colby jack. It melts well and gets nice and crispy.
After the cheese is sprinkled on top, flip the egg over and let it cook cheese side down.
At this point, you want to let the egg cook long enough that the cheese gets crispy, but not burnt. Trying to turn the egg too soon will lead to the egg sticking to the pan and it won’t flip well. If you let it cook long enough, until the cheese is crispy, you should have no problems getting the egg out of the pan. Salt can be added now if you prefer, but the cheese does give the eggs a salty taste so if you aren’t a huge salt fan, maybe tasting first is the way to go.
If you’ve never tried fried eggs with crunchy cheese before, you should! It is so delicious and my family loves it.
